Pathway to interior design

In order to become a Registered Member of ARIDO, individuals must meet the prescribed standards as outlined by ARIDO.

There are several things to consider as you prepare yourself to become an Interior Designer. ARIDO is here to support you with the resources and information regarding Education, Experience, Examination, and Alternative Pathways to get you the required credentials in Ontario.

Since  2014, ARIDO engaged in an undertaking to set a clear direction for ensuring fair access to all applicants, including  recommendations and development of  alternative and inclusive pathways for individuals based on assessment of their competencies for the education and examination requirements.

EXAM ALTERNATIVE PROJECT

ARIDO has launched the Examination Alternative Project to develop a Canadian Alternative to the current exam requirement. The goal is to ensure a fair and equitable path to qualification as an Interior Designer in Ontario. Read about the plan and timeline for launch:

Individuals applying for Registered Membership must meet the minimum education requirement. There are currently two pathways to meet the education requirement; a CIDA accredited degree or by successfully passing the Intern Competencies Review System.
