This Aurora home is where traditional meets modern in perfect harmony

Striking a balance between traditional and modern was a challenge for this 5000 sqf. home in Aurora, Ontario.

Our clients had two different tastes that we were tasked with fusing together to create a cohesive aesthetic that translated throughout their home and spoke to both of them equally. To achieve this successfully, we made sure to incorporate traditional and modern furniture, decor and elements with subtle pops of colour inspired by their vast collection of original artworks.

The octagonal shape of the living room inspired a rounded sofa and pendant light that perfectly frames the original Peter Max above. A uniquely shaped solid coffee table adds interest to the room and a custom display case exhibits a collection of Swarovski figurines.

Careful attention was paid to the tones used throughout so that the entire home acts as a subtle backdrop to the vibrant, colourful artwork. The double storey family room is brought down to earth with a large modern sectional and monolithic stone coffee table. We pulled in ochre and gold accents to speak to the artworks and sconces above the fireplace.

The primary bedroom features a custom upholstered headboard and platform bed with pops of orange and blue inspired by another Peter Max. Upholstered swivel chairs create the perfect retreat for a private conversation and lounging.

We redesigned the recreation room in the basement to be the perfect place to entertain. A long custom designed millwork wall acts as a media unit and kitchenette with plenty of storage and built in LED lighting to showcase knick-knacks and decor. We kept the opposite wall clean and arranged a combination of rare sports memorabilia and paintings.

We had a blast designing custom display cases to showcase the vast collection of authentic sports memorabilia for our client in his private home office that illuminates to maximum effect.
