ARIDO Award: Lakeside Living

Replacing the old family cottage, this new build was fashioned to reflect the clients’ changing needs. Set in the tranquility of Lake Couchiching, the low-slung architectural form with its intersecting roof pitches and expansive glazing, provided the perfect starting point to create something modern and warm with a playfulness well suited to its owners.

A vibrant masterpiece sets a playful tone in this cottage interior

The aptly named Jellybean Cottage, inspired by a vibrant custom painting, merges form and function with the client’s love of colour. Supporting local artisans and developing a deep and meaningful bond with their family and surrounding community were among the key goals for this project.

Charlie’s house was in need of a complete update, from redesigning the exterior facade, to creating a more functional interior layout. With the help of all the trades we included a second floor addition and opened up the interior space to allow more natural light.
