Recap: ARIDO at the Interior Design Show 2025

Maia Stamatov

Once again ARIDO partnered with Interior Designers of Canada for IDS 2025. We spent amazing four days at the ARIDO+IDC stage, thanks to all the panelists, all the members and attendees, our BID students and of course, our partners and sponsors!

A big thank you to Bryan Stone, ARIDO and Joanne Chan, ARIDO for their exceptional work on the stage design. It truly was a focal point of admiration, drawing countless compliments and capturing the attention of all who experienced it.

This year, in addition to informative sessions throughout the four-day programming at the ARIDO+IDC stage, we had engaging activations at the stage area, like the VIP Lounge exclusively for ARIDO and IDC members, and the “Credentials Matter” digital photo booth for Registered Interior Designers, where each of them got a personalized ad that highlights their commitment to professional standards.

The ARIDO BID Student activation during Trade days, attracted a lot of attention and gave students from ARIDO recognized schools a chance to showcase and discuss their conceptual designs with the public and experienced Interior designers alike.

On day 1, we had a chance to network and catch up in the VIP Lounge for members, welcomed Registered Interior Designers to the CREDENTIALS MATTER digital photo booth, and enjoyed BID student presentations! We ended this exciting Trade day with a panel session on ICRS with Zinnia Bookwala, ARIDO, Alessandro Caselli, Intern ARIDO and Jose Tanabe, ARIDO’S Regulatory Coordinator.

On Day 2 at the ARIDO+IDC stage we hosted two sessions and had a wonderful time connecting and networking with members and students, and snapping photos at our “Credentials Matter” photo booth activation for Registered members!

The first session of the day was on the Examination Alternative Project (EAP) presented by Sharon Portelli, ARIDO Executive Director and Daniel Zanth.

Residential Facade Systems presented by Alejandro Daras was another session on the ARIDO+IDC Stage. It was an in-depth investigation on state-of-the-art systems used for residential Facades.

On Saturday, Jeremy Cheff, ARIDO walked us through the different stages of one of his projects and the importance of working with a Registered Interior Designer during the “Reimagining Spaces” session.

Later on, the audience got a chance to hear from a qualified Registered Interior Designer Michelle Mawby, ARIDO and Sharon Portelli, ARIDO Executive Director during a session called “Demystifying Permits”. The session delved into all the permitting information needed to get an interior design project started right.

On Sunday, the first session of the day was presented by Sharon Portelli, ARIDO Executive Director, which went into detail on all the crucial information about Interior Design contracts, and was followed by a Q&A session.
In the afternoon, we were joined once again by Michelle Mawby, ARIDO who shared her detailed design process of one of her renovation projects, from the planning phase to the stunning finished interior.

During both Public days on Saturday and Sunday, the public had an opportunity to get free design consultations with Registered Interior Designers. A big thank you to Ali Merchant, ARIDO, Eyad Boukli, ARIDO, and Joanne Chan, ARIDO for offering their expertise as part of the ‘Meet the Interior Designer’ activation.
