Ontario Interior Design Education Survey

Jeremy Vandermeij
The Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) is asking Ontario’s interior design education community to help inform its next steps regarding faculty qualification standards used by the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB).
The survey will help ARIDO understand how these standards affect faculty qualifications, course delivery, hiring, scheduling, institutional requirements, and the preparation of students for safe and competent practice.

Who Should Participate?

The survey is open to all Ontario interior design educators and institutional staff, whether or not they are ARIDO members. This includes:

  • full-time, part-time, sessional, and contract educators;
  • program coordinators and chairs;
  • administrators and schedulers;
  • deans, registrars, and accreditation staff; and
  • others with knowledge of interior design education in Ontario.

The form will show questions based on your role:

Educator stream: teaching, course delivery, qualifications, and student preparation.
Program or administrative stream: faculty composition, hiring, scheduling, and institutional requirements.
Both streams: for people who can answer both sets of questions.

What to Expect

Questions cover faculty qualifications and experience, course responsibilities, institutional needs, professional examinations and registration, and the possible effects of PEQAB-related changes.

This consultation supports ARIDO’s responsibility to set qualification standards and protect the public. It does not change the roles of ARIDO, PEQAB, the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), or educational institutions.

Time: About 15–30 minutes
Deadline: Thursday, November 19, 2026
