Graduated Intern Dues Program
New intern members who recently graduated will enjoy reduced membership dues that gradually increase over the first three years of ARIDO membership. These tiered dues are intended to support grads as they enter the profession and begin working towards their supervised work experience.
How does it apply to you?
TIER 1 Intern membership is ONLY $95.63 (including HST) beginning the first year after graduation.
TIER 2 Intern membership is $191.26 (including HST) beginning the second year after graduation.
TIER 3 Regular Intern dues of $357.80 will apply beginning the third year after graduation
Criteria
To qualify for Intern membership, applicant must:
- Successfully complete the required interior design education (minimum – Bachelor of Interior Design degree) from a CIDA-accredited BID program or successfully complete the ICRS. *note, only recent grads from a CIDA-Accredited program qualify for the Intern Tiered dues.
- Show proof of liability insurance coverage
- Produce official school transcript(s) sent directly from educational institution(s) for CIDA-Accredited graduates.
Ongoing Requirements
To maintain Intern Membership, members must:
- Renew ARIDO membership annually
- Comply with ARIDO’s Professional Development requirement for Intern members
- Adhere to the ARIDO Code of Ethics and Practice Standards
- Accumulate the required amount of supervised work experience
- Successfully complete the Supervised Work Experience Requirement

Additional Information
- Upon acceptance into this category, those Intern members who choose the NCIDQ path will be given an eligibility date by CIDQ to write the NCIDQ (National Council of Interior Design Qualification) examination, within a five-year period. Intern members who choose the Canadian Alternative Exam will not have an assessment eligibility date provided. Candidates may attempt the EAP once they have completed their Supervised Work Experience Requirement.
- Please note, ARIDO has introduced a new experience requirement which Interns must complete as part of their path to Registered membership. Interior Design Experience Requirement (IDER), is a move away from hours-based reporting to evidence-based and requires the completion of mandatory tasks within each interior design phase.
