FRIGHT NIGHT: A BAIDA x ARIDO x Standard Shop Halloween Takeover

Forget the name tags and small talk marathon — this is a dance party. Full stop.
BAIDA and ARIDO are teaming up with Standard Shop for one night built for the most creative of the design community — and anyone who just wants to dress up, dance, and not think about deadlines. No lanyards, no “so what do you do,” just a great room, a great DJ, and your best (or worst) costume.
What’s actually going down:
- 🕺 DJs spinning all night — real sets, not elevator music
- 🍸 Drinks are on us — and our sponsors — free bar, all night, no cash grab
- 🧀 Snacks that slap — a charcuterie spread you’ll actually want to eat
- 🌬️ Outdoor space if you need it — step out to the patio for air, a smoke, or just a breather between songs
- 🏆 Costume contest — no theme, no rules, and absolutely no need to dress for the corporate environment. Be your wildest, truest self. We’ll photograph everyone’s looks and post them to our presenting partners’ Instagram after the event — the public votes, and the winner takes home a Bocci 14 Series P, a hand-cast, wireless, rechargeable glass table light made in Vancouver (value ~$375), courtesy of Standard Shop
- 🎟️ $5 for ARIDO & BAIDA members, $10 for everyone else — proceeds support BAIDA
Member early access, 7–8PM: ARIDO & BAIDA members get first dibs on the space (and the snacks) before doors open to everyone else at 8PM.
Dress code: none. Costumes strongly encouraged. Jorts encouraged too, honestly — we’re not judging (well, we are, that’s the whole contest, but you know what we mean).

ABOUT PRESENTING PARTNERS
Black Architects and Interior Designers Association (BAIDA) is a non profit organization made up of 100 students, planners, interior designers, and architects. BAIDA aims to support diversity, equity and inclusion in the profession of architecture and interior design. Our tools are advocacy, mentorship, networking, and outreach.
The Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario is the professional regulatory body for interior design in Ontario, established by the Ontario Legislature in 1984. ARIDO sets the standards required to use the title Registered Interior Designer, maintains a public register of members, and upholds a code of ethics to protect the public.
Standard Shop is a Toronto-based sales agency and dealer defined by intentional curation. Since 2020, the agency has maintained a deliberate focus on a select portfolio of global contract lighting brands, partnering exclusively with manufacturers who champion in-house production and design innovation. The team works at the intersection of product and architecture, delivering precise, transformative lighting solutions for modern spaces.
