About Winnie Yu
Winnie Yu is a highly accomplished Manager at Capital Projects and Campus Planning Seneca Polytechnic in Toronto, ON, Canada. With a diverse educational background, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies from the University of Toronto and a Diploma in Interior Design from Humber College. Additionally, she is a Registered Interior Designer in Ontario and possesses certifications as a WELL AP (Accredited Professional) and LEED AP (Accredited Professional). She is also a BCIN-qualified designer in complex buildings under the Ontario Building Code.
Winnie’s passion for design and dedication to creating meaningful spaces led her to specialize in higher education design. Drawing from her extensive knowledge and experience, she approaches projects with a specific lens, focusing on enhancing the learning environment and promoting students’ well-being.
Her expertise extends beyond traditional design principles, as she incorporates elements of Chinese painting and Feng Shui into her work. With a deep appreciation for the cultural and aesthetic aspects of design, Winnie’s unique perspective adds a touch of creativity and harmony to her projects.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Winnie actively contributes to the artistic community as the Vice President of the Ontario Chinese Artist Association. Since 2016, she has been teaching Chinese painting in private and public. Through these roles, she actively promotes cultural exchange and showcases the talent of Chinese artists in the region.
Continuing her commitment to personal and professional growth, Winnie recently achieved a significant milestone by completing a Master of Design Studies for Human Health at the Boston Architectural College. Her master’s thesis focused on the sense of belonging among college students, highlighting her dedication to understanding the social and emotional aspects of design. Notably, her thesis received the prestigious Edwin T. Steffian Centennial Award for Master’s Thesis Excellence. Presently, Winnie serves as a co-instructor at the Boston Architectural College.
