Bespoke design graces this luxurious spa interior
Having designed two other spas for our client, we were asked to design another massage studio spa – Sensa Spa, an oasis of serenity that promotes an overall sense of well-being, offering a tranquil escape from daily life.

Our design strategy was to visit a multitude of international showrooms with our client to review materials, thoroughly understand the their goals for this interior, research other similar businesses, and establish a bespoke design identity. During our initial meetings, the client identified their priorities as a:
- user-centric facility that enhances customer comfort and experience while supporting staff efforts
- functional customer-focused space, privacy, facility hygiene and staff rest
- innovative exclusive grandiose luxury aesthetic
- novel and unique solutions that differentiate from competitors
- spacious organic design

The designers proposed that the front portion of the old 10,000 square foot, low-height warehouse be raised to 25 feet high, to provide a grandiose entry to the lobby/reception area. To create a sense of mystery, and no warning of what to expect inside, the black monolithic exterior is clad in black marble porcelain tile and stucco.
Double, hand-crafted coppersmith doors lead into the lobby. A 100-foot-long curvilineal wall of custom encrusted porcelain mosaic tiles, expressing a bold floral garden, lead the eye to the hotel lobby sized reception desk and ultimately up to the 16-foot handmade, snakeskin design, crystal chandelier. The multi-tiered organically flowing bulkheads above define areas and bring a human scale to the space. Flanking the reception is a private, isolated customer waiting lounge furnished with oversized leather armchairs, TV, and decorated with natural wood artwork.

Walls are paneled throughout in veneered natural birds-eye maple. Custom designed and fabricated black ceramic tile floor, with free-flowing curved inlays of brass and copper, lead to the 11 massage treatment rooms, two of which are jacuzzi hydrotherapy. Oversized copper doors to the rooms echo the front entry design.
