The approach employs a holistic “Inside Out, Outside In” design philosophy in its multidisciplinary approach that involves integrating architecture, workplace interiors, and landscape design. All design aspects support the interior design, aligning with a shared vision of a more autonomous culture that promotes increased flexibility and choice, fostering innovation, productivity, and overall health and wellness. A whimsical mobile installation by Taiwanese-Canadian artist Dennis Lin, adds a playful touch to the lobby. Inspired by a child’s imagination, this design utilizes bold colours and playful shapes to create an atmosphere of joy and creativity.

The 22-storey center in Toronto serves as a bespoke workplace for the education, training, and administration of Canada’s leading pediatric healthcare organization and marks the critical first step in SickKids’ multi-year campus transformation project, known as Project Horizon, which aims to create an inspired and reimagined hospital of the future.

Work space with a small kitchen, dark coloured high loft style ceiling and large desk with multiple chairs. The space overlooks the city through floor to ceiling windows. A coloured glass creates a separation between the workspace and the hallway.

Overall, the design sets a benchmark for adaptable, purpose-built workplaces that enhance hospital efficiency and staff well-being, reinforcing SickKids’ role as a leader in pediatric healthcare both locally and nationally.
