2026 IDS Toronto Recap

ARIDO spent four exciting days at the 2026 Interior Design Show Toronto. The ARIDO booth was the place to be for connecting with members and networking, witnessing students’ collaborative design process while they created their installations during the Design Justice Charrette, connecting the public with Registered members during ‘Meet the Interior Designers’ program, Credentials Matter photo-booth, and more.

ARIDO’s involvement with the show was to continue educating the public on the importance of consumers hiring and working with a Registered Interior Designer.

This year ARIDO used its presence at the show to elevate the current CREDENTIALS MATTER campaign to continue its responsibility in advocating for the value of interior design and the importance of credentials in Ontario.

January 22nd and 23rd: Design Justice Charrette

During days 1 and 2 the ARIDO booth hosted the Design Justice Charrette in partnership with Inspired Learning Lab and Ojiibik. The charrette was a wonderful opportunity for 50 BID ARIDO student members to showcase their unique designs/installations with a focus on accessibility and universal design, cultural identity and representation, economic justice and affordability, and environmental justice.

Thank you to all the participants and their Intern mentor volunteers who provided support and mentorship to the students during this two-day challenge. They served as coaches and technical advisors throughout the two days as they helped the students navigate challenges, refine ideas, and push their thinking beyond the obvious solutions.

We would like to thank the judges for their careful considerations. The winners of the two-day charrette will be announced sometime in February or March at the Ojiibik showroom.

January 24th and 25th:‘Meet the Interior Designers’ program

On days 3 and 4, during the ‘Meet the Interior Designers’ program, Registered Interior Designers connected with the public, answered questions related to ARIDO and the profession and also provided design consultations.

We would like to thank all the Registered members for volunteering and donating their time during the ‘Meet the Interior Designers’ program, and for advocating for the profession and the importance of being a qualified Interior Designer and credentials.
