ARIDO Stands Against Human Trafficking! Join Us on July 30th!
On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, ARIDO recognizes the urgency of addressing this global crisis. Human trafficking is a grave violation of human rights, affecting millions of individuals worldwide. It is an issue that knows no borders, transcending age, gender, and socioeconomic status.
At ARIDO we know that human trafficking is a serious issue in Canada and Ontario. Throughout our 2018 project with BridgeNorth our eyes were opened at the way that women and girls are trafficked from around the country and brought into a system that erases their autonomy and dignity.
During the 2018 ROI project, we were able to improve their office space to provide a secure space for the team at BridgeNorth to deliver services to victims. The design was led by Registered member Lucia De Biasio, ARIDO and services, materials, and furniture were donated by our incredible partners who stepped up to support this cause.
With improvements such as a shower and laundry facilities to support clients, a space upgraded with much needed security features, and a calming, secure, counselling space, BridgeNorth has been able to access federal and provincial funding to expand their reach and support more women and girls.
Every person deserves to live a life free from exploitation and coercion. By acknowledging this day, we reaffirm our commitment to raising awareness and taking action against human trafficking. We strive to protect the most vulnerable members of our society, ensuring their safety, freedom, and dignity.
Join us on July 30th as we stand together to shine a light on this critical issue. By sharing information, resources, and stories, we can empower communities, educate others, and drive change. Together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of survivors and work towards eradicating human trafficking for good.
