Hailing from chilly Montreal, Mackage sought to refine its brand experience by further evolving its retail spaces, setting the latest iteration apart from its predecessors. The new concept is designed around the principle of compartmentalization to establish a sense of intimacy within the large volume of space. Each collection becomes a new exhibition in the gallery-like space, punctuated by a series of boxed vignettes set at differing heights to play with scale and create visual interest. Stepping inside each vignette to view a product creates an intimate experience for shoppers. Splashes of black nero marquina marble, oversized mirrors, and brushed bronze and dark metals add a quiet sophistication to the palette. This sophisticated interior appeals to a global-minded, fashion-forward audience and raises the standard for how brands can pay homage to their heritage without relying on traditional “Canadiana” themes.
