1)    Privacy Crisis: Workplace Privacy  - presented by Julia McLean, Steelcase

Space design and collaborative work, especially in North America, have made it possible for organizations to optimize their real estate and speed innovation. At the same time, these fast-growing trends have been compromised to individual work and worker privacy. Mobile devices have given rise to the phenomenon of mobile work, offering many employees an option to work almost anywhere – a freedom that they didn’t have before. However, alternative work settings are often either too isolating or too public, and they lack the technology access and other amenities that give workers what they want and need for sustained, productive work. Meanwhile, the proliferation of data, particularly new information technology, is making privacy invasion easier and that’s been exacerbating concerns and increasing awareness of privacy as a precious resource under threat. When it comes to solving for employee engagement in today’s world, place matters – a great deal.

GTA Holiday Helpers Campaign

Holiday Helpers Banner

Summer is officially over and believe it or not, Christmas is just around the corner! Holiday Helpers is working full time to bring the magic of Christmas to hundreds of deserving families in the GTA.

This year, Holiday Helpers is supporting 600 families!

Register to Sponsor a Family

You can now register on Holiday Helpers' website to sponsor a family. When you register to sponsor a family, you will be sent a wish list for a specific family and will be expected to purchase their presents. A few things to consider when sponsoring a family:

1. Know Your Budget

- We recommend budgeting approximately $175 per person + a $100 grocery gift card for the entire family. So if your group thinks you'll raise about $450, then we would recommend sponsoring a family of 2 people ($175 for each family member + a $100 grocery gift card)
2. Register Online
- once you register online for the right family size, we'll match you with an appropriate family. It does take us a few weeks to source the wish lists and match you up, so expect to have your wish list within 1-3 weeks.
3. Drop-Off Deadline
- Keep these dates in mind! The deadline for dropping gifts off at our warehouse is December 2-5.

Questions about sponsoring a family can be directed to

Other ways to get involved:

Holiday Helpers is looking for friendly volunteers who are available to come to their Etobicoke office in the evenings and call families to confirm their Christmas wish list. They are looking for volunteers who have customer service experience or phone experience of some kind. Check out the full volunteer description here.

NOTE - the warehouse volunteer shifts will not be available until mid-November.
